Vienna, 25 June 2010:
The presentation of the CD and DVD of the Midsummer Night Concert 2010 given by the Vienna Philharmonic in the Schönbrunn palace gardens took place at the premises of Juwelier Wagner. Barbara Rett presented the evening and interviewed Franz Welser Möst, the director and General Music Director designate of the Vienna State Opera, Clemens Hellsberg, violinist and Executive Board Director of the Vienna Philharmonic, Ute Fesquet, Executive Producer of Deutsche Grammophon, and Hannes Eder, Managing Director of Universal Music Austria.

The invited guests were welcomed by Hermann and Katharina Gmeiner-Wagner as hosts and as Austria’s longest-standing Rolex partner. The Swiss watch manufacture has been supporting the activities of the Vienna Philharmonic for a number of years, and is the exclusive sponsor of the Midsummer Night Concert in Schönbrunn, and of the New Year concert.
The musical high point on the stage, which was much applauded, was the live performance given by an ensemble from the Vienna Philharmonic.

As an unexpected finale, there was one further special surprise for Franz Welser-Möst: the Gmeiner-Wagner family presented the General Music Director designate of the Vienna State Opera with cufflinks made of 18 carat white gold with the emblem of the Vienna State Opera, and wished Franz Welser-Möst all the best for his new role.

Deutsche Grammophon: In 1898, in his home town of Hanover, Emil Berliner formed Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft mbH, which produced exclusively records and which was turned into a joint stock company as early as 1900. Half a century after the company was founded, the unique brand emblem of Deutsche Grammophon was created: the yellow rectangle with the famous crown of tulips. It quickly became established as an international synonym for excellent recordings of the finest classical interpretations by international star artistes.
