THE CLASSIC WATCH OF REFERENCE
The Oyster Perpetual Datejust is the watch of reference for those who believe that elegance is timeless. The Datejust is the archetype of the modern watch thanks to functions and aesthetics that never go out of fashion. Born in 1945, it was the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display the date in a window at 3 o’clock on the dial – hence its name. It consolidated all the major innovations that Rolex had contributed to the wristwatch until then – chronometric precision (first chronometer certificates granted to a wristwatch as of 1910), waterproofness (creation of the Oyster case in 1926), self-winding mechanism (Perpetual rotor patented from 1931) and the date in a window.
