The “Klassik unter Sternen” open air concert took place at Göttweig Abbey on 4 July 2018. The star of the evening was mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca, who was wearing Wagner jewellery on stage.

Wagner Juwelen Design was worn by the stars of the evening on the open air stage at Göttweig Abbey: Elina Garanca is wearing Wagner Masterpiece and Anna Pirozzi wears Wagner Century.

The weather was perfect as Elina Garanca with her friends for this year’s concert, the Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi and the American tenor Gregory Kunde, performed to the delight of over 4,500 guests, with an exciting programme devised by conductor and musical director Karel Mark Chichon.

Elina Garanca and Karel Mark Chichon made a surprise announcement after the interval: they are to start their competition for young singers aged between 18 and 25, “Zukunftsstimmen” [voices of the future], in autumn. The winner will appear with Elina Garanca and Karel Mark Chichon at the “Klassik unter Sternen 2019” concert. The project is being supported by Raiffeisen Bank.

The concert, which this year focused on “Verismo”, ended on a traditional note with a wonderfully beautiful “Ave Maria” – the final encore, after which the audience left their seats and the performance venue without further applause. A “mystical” moment, as Elina Garanca said.
